Much Ado About Nothing
written by William Shakespeare
directed by Carol Dicker
Love found, love lost, gossip and lies... NTT's innovative production shines the spotlight on the loss of reputation in an online world, in this steampunk rendition of the Bard's classic romantic comedy.
March 2018 - Penrith
Q Theatre, Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre
Directions: how to get there
The Bard must have foreseen the 21st century when he penned this clever comedy in 1598. Western Sydney comedy theatre company, NTT Productions, makes it's welcome return to Penrith with an innovative spin on one of Shakespeare’s cleverest romantic comedies.
Claudio falls for the beautiful, young Hero; Beatrice harbours a secret love for lothario Benedick (and vice versa); John the Bastard's jealousy of his half brother Don Pedro leads to an act of deception; and the keystone cops who should be solving the mess are more interested in seeking the spotlight.
This steampunk-inspired production showcases the hilarity of this delightful comedy, while at the same time highlighting the flaws of social media and the fragility of your reputation in a world in which everything is online.
Only four performances, including a special school matinee performance.
