Love, gossip, laughs and lies: The hilarious agony of Benedick and Beatrice's resistance to love is offset by a betrayal and loss of reputation that strikes at the heart of two of the people they cherish most. NTT combines steampunk and cyber-deception to shine a light on how contemporary life can be impacted by the use - and misuse - of social media, in this innovative spin on the Bard's classic rom-com. Claudio falls for the beautiful, young Hero; Beatrice and lothario Benedick harbour a secret love for each other that becomes a covert game of match-making for their sneaky friends; John the Bastard's jealousy of his half-brother Don Pedro leads to an act of deception; and the keystone cops who should be solving the mess are more interested in seeking the spotlight. Much Ado About Nothing is a witty, anachronistic production that showcases the hilarity of this delightful comedy, while at the same time highlighting the flaws of social media and the fragility of reputation in a world where everything is online.
